A new Pizzeria will be opening up in Greer this December called Risata Pizza. They will serve Neopolitan-style pizzas.
Neapolitan-style pizza requires a wood-burning oven that heats to 800 degrees or higher, which cooks the pizza in about two minutes. It also requires the dough only be made with flour, yeast, water and salt and that the consistency remains “soft, elastic and easy to manipulate and fold.”
Sounds pretty interesting. Greer has a solid abundance of really good pizza places – Merrel’s, Wild Ace, Della Ventura’s (my favorite), etc. The location of Risata (near Walmart off WHB) is in an area that does not have a ton of restaurants, so hopefully they’ll do well!
Edit: Got a comment from a reader that Vito’s in Greer has the best Pizza.
Not a tip but a comment…. The best pizza in Greer is Vito’s in the Bilo Shopping center on Wade Hampton. “Vito” is really Pat who is very Italian and grew up in Milan so all the Italian decor is not faux in the least. The prosciutto pizza is to die for…….
Hmm, I’ve heard that Vito’s is pretty awesome but have not had a chance to try it out yet. So it’s on the list now! 🙂
Oh yes! This is fantastic news! Last year we posted about Menkoi opening up their first Ramen House off Woodruff Road. Well, now they will be opening up a second location in Downtown Greenville!
Their downtown location will be located on North Main in the former Dark Corner Distillery.
Menkoi offers traditional Japanese ramen with a broth and meat of your choice, noodles and a collection of green onions, spinach, and boiled eggs.
They are to open sometime this Winter. So maybe by end of the year? Perfect ramen time!
The space vacated by Tealoha a few months ago will be a new locally owned tea shop called Chasing Rabbits Tea Company. They’re are scheduled to open this month.
A little blurb from Greenville Online about them:
Chasing Rabbits takes that idea a step further. The shop, with its 50 varieties of tea, sourced from around the world, will have a focus on health, but the owners also wanted to create a space that made tea, well, kind of cool.
Two Chefs have moved to the Stone @ Main area and their former location will soon be occupied by a new breakfast/lunch concept called Famous Toastery.
They are a North Carolina-based chain and have Greenville listed as one of the new cities they will coming to in the near future.
Famous Toastery, which was formerly Toast Cafe, started in Charlotte in 2005. The restaurant is known for its higher end, creative, homemade, breakfast, brunch and lunch options. Most everything is made in house, Maynard said, from the salad dressings to the biscuits and gravy. Even the lobster for the Maine Benedict is delivered fresh each day, Maynard said.
Other popular items include the avocado omelet, crepes, and a quinoa and a kale salad.
Plans call for gutting the former Two Chef’s space, and expanding it significantly by at least 1,000 square feet. The restaurant will feature a range of seating and service options from full-service sit down table seating to counter service and outdoor seating and a grab and go area as well. Famous Toastery will also feature a full bar menu. Maynard said.
Got this tip from a reader…
Fuddruckers and Starbucks coming soon to Duncan at 290 & 85. Former Denny’s location.
Also, looks like Highway 55 Burgers will be opening up in the new mini-strip mall area at Hampton Village.
Looks like Hwy 55 Burgers and Shakes going next to the new Starbucks.

Downtown Greenville’s construction boom keeps on going!
According to the UBJ there are about 17 downtown projects in the midsts of starting or will be starting soon. This doesn’t include the EP360 building that is going up as well as other areas.
Fantastic for Downtown for sure!
Popeyes Chicken is now open in Boiling Springs! One step closer to the Greenville area.
