Downtown Greenville’s newest hotel is now open for folks to visit (not sure to stay).
With a chic, urban design and a dog-friendly atmosphere, the Aloft Greenville Downtown hotel at ONE City Plaza is set to open its doors to the public on Monday.
The final touches were being put on the 144-room hotel this week by Georgia-based hotel management company McKibbon Hotel Group. The hotel sits atop a new 474-space public parking garage.
Within the hotel is small restaurant (Refuel at Aloft), two bars (W XYZ and Re:mix), a business center and more. Seems like a really cool hotel and it’s in a great location right off Main Street. Another exciting thing about this new construction area is all the new retail spaces opening up at the bottom of the hotel and in a little ‘alley’. It will be a really nice destination place for locals and visitors alike.
Alrighty Greer residents! Culver’s is looking to open by April, 2016. Awesome.
Jim Clark is locating his second fast-casual Culver’s at 1040 W. Wade Hampton Blvd, next to Aldi and filling in the former D&D Motors site.
The infrastructure is being put in place and Clark said, weather permitting, “Our goal is to open in April. That is the tentative if everything goes according to schedule.”
We previously posted about them coming to Greer here and here.
Also, Blue Ridge Brewery, a brew-pub/restaurant that has been in Downtown Greenville for about 20 years is relocating to Trade Street in Downtown Greer. They expect to open up in early 2016.
After 20 years, Blue Ridge Brewing Company will be closing its downtown Greenville location by the end of this year.
Already in progress is a new location at 308 Trade St. (the former Cazbah space) in downtown Greer that will open by April 1, 2016. Owner Bob Hiller said the Blue Ridge team is excited about the new location and “keeping the brand alive.”
Earlier this year Lowes foods announced they would be coming to the Upstate and their first location will be opening up in Greer early next year. They have announced that they will be opening a second location in the Five Forks/Simpsonville area.
The store will be built at the new Village Market-East shopping center on the northwest corner of Woodruff Road and Sunnydale Drive in the Five Forks area of Simpsonville. Construction will begin in spring 2016 with a targeted opening date in spring 2017.
“We are very excited to bring a new and unique grocery shopping experience to the Five Forks area,” Lowes Foods president Tim Lowe said.
A while back we posted about the rumors of Popeyes Chicken coming to Greenville. More recent developments have happened since our post so wanted to update everyone. The Popeyes has opened up in Gaffney, SC so that’s a good sign! Been reading that it has become fairly popular too.
The Popeyes in Gaffney is definitely open and the chicken is indeed quite spicy, moreso than Bojangle’s.
Also some unsubstantiated rumors that a Popeyes might be coming into the downtown area as well
I heard a rumor (unsure of reliability) that there will be a Popeye’s in the Main and Stone development. Seemed like an odd location to me, but maybe someone has their finger better on the pulse?
I have heard a similar rumor but unconfirmed.
So there you have it. Not much more than rumors at the moment but if anyone has any info we’d love to hear about it!
We posted back here that Dickey’s BBQ was shutting down and relocating. Just found out where they are relocating too:
Edit: If you’re not signed into Facebook you might not see the info above so here it is quoted:
For over 6 years we have been blessed with being part of a great community and great circle of guests friends. However, we have made the decision to move the store to a new location in Boiling Springs. November 25, 2015 will be our last day in operation in Taylors. Our new location will be opening at 4080 Highway 9, in front of Wal-Mart, in February 2016. Our phone number will remain the same – 864-848-0004 – for any of your catering needs. We can continue to serve you from our store in Inman. We welcome you to stop by our Inman and Boiling Springs locations and join us as we make new memories there.
So if you’re hankering for some Dickey’s BBQ you’ll have to head off to Boiling Springs now.
