Thanks to Peter for the tip posted on our Facebook page.

Edit: Wanted to get in some other news posts as well to help consolidate all this information.

WYFF4 has some more detail than Fox Carolina:

City representative Lelise Fletcher confirmed that The Cheesecake Factory has obtained a building permit for Haywood Mall.

The document released by the city shows the company paid more than $14,000 for the permit. It also states the value of the building will be more than $500,000.

And Greenville Online has this article on them as well:

Cheesecake Factory is coming to Greenville, according to city officials.

The city of Greenville has issued a building permit for the long-rumored restaurant at Haywood Mall.

The permit, issued earlier this month, calls for the modification of an existing 4,720-square-foot space and adding an additional 4,160 square feet of space to create the restaurant with bar and patios.

Coming Soon: Jet’s Pizza (Greenville)

Edit: Big oops! Didn’t realize they already have a couple of Upstate locations. Thanks to Andrew for the correction (in comments)!

Looks like Greenville is getting a new an expansion to their pizza franchise. Jet’s Pizza, which is based out of Michigan, will be opening up their first fourth Upstate location off Mills Avenue. They are famous for their deep-dish square pizza’s and with 300+ locations it sounds like they are growing fairly fast.

According to BRCainJr

Jet’s Pizza Coming soon to 409 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC

If you go to the Jet’s Pizza website you’ll see the new Greenville site listed under their Coming Soon tab. No ETA though.

Recently Closed: MiMi’s (Greer), Angelo’s Greek & Italian (Greenville), P. Simpsons Hometown Grille (Simpsonville)

(Couldn’t find their logo so this is off the Greer Today site)

MiMi’s Steak House in downtown Greer has closed. According to this article here are some of the reasons:

Mimi’s Steakhouse of Japan has permanently closed at its 107 S. Main Street location in Greer. Business was good, some of the employees weren’t, according to general manager.

Mimi Choi, general manager, said the community’s support and customer base was solid. “It was the employees – nobody wants to work anymore,” Mimi, general manager, as she is known, said. “They don’t have any respect to the customers, I retrain so many and for the past six months more employees have lied to me, cheated me, and stole from me.”

A bummer for sure. We ate there a number of times in the past and food and service (at least for us) have always been good but it’s sad that “poor service” has helped shutter their doors. Greer needs another good Japanese Steak House for sure so hopefully a new one will open up sometime.

In other restaurant closings it looks like Angelo’s Greek & Italian is also closed. We had posted about them coming a few months ago and looks like they didn’t last very long. According to Dan In SC:

Drove past Angelo’s Greek & Italian Cuisine on Woodruff Rd and noticed that its closed. That didn’t last very long!

And out in Simpsonville it looks like P. Simpsons Hometown Grille has also closed. According to Adam Tyner:

P. Simpsons Hometown Grille in Simpsonville shut its doors. Looks like their last evening open was on October 2nd.
